Having failed to win his first two FIFA Club World Cup games, Al Ahly head coach Jose Riveiro is already feeling the heat.

The Spaniard drew his first match against Inter Miami before going down 2-0 to Palmeiras in their second match of the tournament. Al Ahly will need to beat Porto on Tuesday to reach the round of 16.

Before joining Al Ahly, Jose Riveiro coached Orlando Pirates for three years where he won five major trophies for the Soweto giants.

What are Al Ahly saying about Jose Riveiro?

According to Kooora, the Red Devils are backing Riveiro and have changed their transfer plans

“Al-Ahly’s management had intended to only support the left-back and striker positions. Things have changed radically now, and the focus is now on supporting the left and right-back positions, in addition to a local striker,” the source told Kooora as per KickOff.

“The level Mohamed Hany showed in the tournament, the frequent injuries to Omar Kamal Abdel Wahed’s replacement, and the departure of Akram Tawfik made strengthening the right-back position an urgent necessity.”

Jose Riveiro facing a tough start to his Al Ahly tenure

“Strengthening the center-back position is on the table, but it’s not a priority at the moment due to the presence of Moroccan Achraf Dari and Yasser Ibrahim, along with the permanent purchase of Mustafa Al-Ash and the loan of Ahmed Ramadan Beckham from Ceramica for a season,” the source added.

Former Egyptian footballer and coach Mohsen Saleh feels Riveiro is not the best fit for Al Ahly.

“I want the best for Al Ahly — so why bring in a coach without a strong track record? “All his statements make it sound like just being at Al Ahly is the achievement. “His facial expressions and body language say a lot — you can tell he’s uneasy, stressed, maybe even out of place. Something just doesn’t feel right.”

Will Riveiro survive a season in Egypt?
