Bulls Daisies Power Past Western Province to Stay Unbeaten in Women’s Super League

The Isuzu Bulls Daisies confirmed their status as the team to beat in the 2026 Pick n Pay Women’s Super League 1, running in eight tries to overwhelm DHL Western Province 50-22 in the headline Round 4 fixture, at Rosina Paarwater Stadium, Bellville, on Saturday, 7 March, 2026. 

Western Province, buoyed by the return of Springbok prop Babalwa Latsha, came out of the blocks fast and scored twice in quick succession to race into a 12-0 lead. The Daisies found their composure through a powerful lineout and strong individual carries, with Sizo Solontsi and Libbie Janse van Rensburg helping them fight back. 

Shaunique Alexander added a well-taken try and Janse van Rensburg contributed conversions as the Daisies led 26-22 at the interval, with WP wing Alichia Arries scoring just before the break to keep the hosts in striking range.

The second half was a one-sided affair. Replacement prop Lebogang Ralebona powered over from close range before wing Thobile Msizazwe crossed twice to complete an eight-try haul for the visitors. The 24 unanswered second-half points left no doubt about the result, with Doreen Mkhabela and Vainah Ubisi also among the try scorers. 

The result leaves the Daisies top of the standings with four wins from four and a perfect 20 points, while Western Province, who also went into the round unbeaten, drop to second on 16 points.

In Gqeberha, the Sanlam Boland Dames held off a spirited Eastern Province Queens side to win 41-29 in an absorbing 12-try contest at Otto du Plessis High School to maintain their place among the title contenders. 

Aseza Hele was in top form, scoring a hat-trick against her former team as the Dames built up a match-winning lead. Wing Tereske Kabuika also crossed three times, and Eloise Webb added a seventh try in the 64th minute. The Queens, who fought back with two late tries through Amber Olivier, Olwethu Kasibe, Hlomla Puzi and Julene Haas, were ultimately undone by their inability to sustain their challenge over the full 80 minutes, and the Dames move to 15 points and third on the log.

The Golden Lions Women continued their upward trajectory with a controlled 32-7 win over the Border Ladies at Alberton Rugby Club in Alberton. Scrumhalf Rumandi Potgieter orchestrated proceedings with the composure of a seasoned international as the Lions’ pack provided reliable front-foot ball throughout. 

Kamogelo Thloloe crossed twice, while Xoliswa Khuzwayo, Potgieter, Siyonela Macamba and Ntsako Mbombi all added tries in a comprehensive victory that moves the Lions up to fifth with 10 points. Border remain without a win or a log point after four rounds, their only try of the afternoon coming from Zahara Makhomazi. 

The Sharks Women ended their winless start to the season in emphatic style, claiming a 33-19 bonus-point victory over the Free State Women at the CUT Fields in Bloemfontein. The Sharks led 14-7 at the break and controlled the second half through their pack, creating space in the backs for further scores. 

Sinenhlanhla Cebekhulu crossed twice, with Owami Zikhali, Cebisa Gumede and Kwanele Zungu also dotting down, while Mary Zulu converted four times. Free State’s Anelca Hess scored twice and Angy Lesele added a consolation late on, but the Sharks held on for a morale-boosting result that lifts them to five points on the standings.

With four rounds complete and three remaining before this year’s grand final, the Isuzu Bulls Daisies continue to set the pace in the 2026 Pick n Pay Women’s Super League 1. Western Province, the Sanlam Boland Dames and the EP Queens remain locked in competition for the remaining places in the showpiece, while the Golden Lions Women and the Sharks Women have shown in the last two rounds that they are capable of disrupting the plans of any side in the competition.
