Power Week 1 delivered. Now Power Week 2 arrives, and it is bringing the Telkom Netball League to one of South Africa’s most iconic sporting cathedrals.

Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg plays host to the second instalment of the 2026 TNL season from Friday, 22 May, and if Power Week 1 in Durban was the opening statement, then Jozi is the main event. Ten days. Two divisions. Dozens of fixtures. And a city that knows how to show up for sport.

This is not just a change of scenery, it is a change of stakes. Power Week 1 set a tone that the league will carry all the way to Ellis Park. The DUT Steve Biko Campus in Durban delivered competitive, high-quality netball across both Division 1 and Division 2, with tight finishes, dominant performances, and individual brilliance that reminded South Africa exactly why the TNL belongs in the national sporting conversation.

From the gsport Newsroom Archives, May 2026

Teams arrived at Power Week 1 sharp, disciplined, and hungry. They leave Durban carrying results, lessons, and, in some cases, a point to prove. That unfinished business travels with them to Johannesburg.

The Telkom Supershot, the league’s two-point innovation for goals scored from the designated marked area, continued to reshape tactical approaches and add a layer of high-pressure drama that fans have clearly embraced. Expect coaches to have done their homework on it ahead of Power Week 2.

There is something about Ellis Park that changes the atmosphere of any sporting event held within its walls. The arena has witnessed decades of South African sporting history, and on 22 May, it adds another chapter.

For netball, this is significant. Bringing the TNL to Ellis Park Arena is a statement about where the sport stands in 2026, not on the periphery, but at the centre. A Johannesburg crowd, a major venue, and the full weight of the TNL brand behind it. Netball South Africa and Telkom have built something worth celebrating, and Ellis Park is the right stage to do it on.

The Gauteng netball community will have the chance to experience Power Week in their own backyard, and based on what Durban showed us, they will not want to miss a single session.

Power Week 2 arrives at the point in the season where the comfortable margins begin to shrink. Teams now know each other. Coaches have watched footage. Tactics have been adjusted. The TNL’s competitive fabric is tightening, and it shows in the fixture list.

Division 2 continues to be the proving ground where tomorrow’s D1 players are forged. The battles in D2 are often the most relentless, physical, tactical, and deeply personal for teams fighting for their league standing. Watch this space closely.

In Division 1, the big questions begin to sharpen. Who handles the Ellis Park occasion? Who peaks at the right time? Who has the depth across a ten-day programme to sustain performance from the first 07:00 whistle to the final game on Sunday, 31 May? These are the questions that Power Week 2 will begin to answer.

New to the Division 1 fixture list this Power Week is Zimbabwe’s Zambezi Eagles, adding another dimension to an already competitive field, and giving fans a fresh matchup to look forward to.
