India and Morocco have taken a major step toward expanding their military partnership through a high-level meeting in New Delhi.

Senior defense officials from both nations gathered on September 8 for the inaugural session of their newly established Joint Defense Committee.
Co-chaired by Brigadier General Abdellah Athmani of Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces and Amitabh Prasad from India’s Ministry of Defense, the gathering formally institutionalizes regular military dialogue between the two partners.

The discussions focused on a wide spectrum of security priorities, ranging from joint military training and peacekeeping operations to cyber defense and medical cooperation.
Beyond standard military exchanges, both governments agreed to seek opportunities in joint ventures, co-production, defense technology, and equipment maintenance.
To observe India’s manufacturing capacity firsthand, the Moroccan delegation visited DPSU Bhawan in New Delhi during their four-day trip from September 7 to 10.

This new framework builds directly on an agreement signed when Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited Morocco in September 2025.

According to Morocco World News, India’s Ministry of Defense stated that“India-Morocco defense ties have continued to grow since the signing of the MoU during Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh’s visit to Morocco in September 2025”.
Looking ahead, both nations are preparing to mark seven decades of official diplomatic relations in 2027.
