Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus has earned every cent of his monthly salary having masterminded South Africa’s 2019 and 2023 Rugby World Cup victories.

It therefore comes as no surprise that he is reportedly among the world’s highest-paid rugby coaches.

HOW MUCH DOES RASSIE ERASMUS EARN?

Reports doing the rounds back in mid-2024 claimed that Erasmus was being paid £650 000 per annum (R1.23 million) per month.

However, new reports claim that Erasmus may well be earning far more.

“In 2024, he (Rassie) earned R1.2 million month – R14.4 million yearly. Fans argued it was too low! By 2025, rumours suggest his pay nears R20 million, though SARU keeps details quiet,” and insider reported.

    Well-respected

Erasmus is one of the most well-respected coaches in world rugby today.

The former Springbok loose forward needed just one season to take South Africa from seventh in the world to the top of the World Rugby rankings.

He led the Springboks to the 2019 Rugby Championship trophy, their first since 2004.

However, that was just a sign of things to come …

Erasmus played an instrumental role in helping the Springboks to back-to-back Rugby World Cups.

In 2019, when the Springboks conquered the world in Japan, he was the head coach.

Thereafter, he was at the heart of their successful Rugby World Cup title defence in France in 2023 when he orchestrated things as the Director of Rugby with Jacques Nienaber the coach at the time.

    Second stint as coach

Erasmus then returned for a second stint as head coach in 2024. Since his return, the Springboks have dominated world rugby.

Erasmus has coached South Africa to back-to-back Rugby Championships and an undefeated tour of the United Kingdom in 2024.

Additionally, Erasmus and the Springboks are just one match away from going unbeaten on their end-of-year tour for a second successive season.

Erasmus’s record as Springbok coach at the time of publishing reads, coached 52, won 39, lost 12 and drawn one for a win percentage of 75%.
