KBS Partners with Rimini Street to Accelerate its AI Vision

Rimini Street, Inc. (Nasdaq: RMNI), a global provider of end-to-end enterprise software support, management and innovation solutions, and the leading third-party support provider for Oracle, SAP and VMware software, today announced Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) has partnered with Rimini Street to provide support for its SAP ECC 6.0, a strategic move that has helped to fund and accelerate its AI vision.

Central to KBS’s AI-enabled future is the valuable data stored in its core SAP system, a source that encompasses more than 20 years of information unique to the organization. Drawing upon this rich resource, KBS plans to create multiple AI projects and ongoing programs to maximize talent capabilities, improve time to market for new programs and increase operational efficiencies throughout the organization.

When KBS was faced with SAP’s push to give up its perpetual licenses and move to S/4HANA, the broadcaster was firm in their position that they must prioritize business needs over vendor mandates. KBS decided to forgo SAP’s push to a costly, disruptive move to S/4HANA, and instead, adopted a composable ERP strategy enabled by Rimini Street, that allowed for greater flexibility, savings and control over its IT roadmap and timeline.

“Our highly customized SAP ECC 6.0 system is our competitive differentiator, and it stores an incredible amount of data on our talent, financials and operational processes, all of which will serve as fuel for our AI initiatives,” said Goo Yub Nah, IT director at KBS. “We carefully evaluated our options and decided keeping our existing systems expertly supported by Rimini Street would be the smartest, fastest path to realizing our AI vision, and funding it too.”

Rimini Street Helps KBS Lower Overhead IT Costs and Fill Critical Knowledge Gaps

The switch from vendor support to Rimini Support for SAP reduced KBS’s annual software maintenance fees by 50%. With the quality, speed and scope of coverage provided, KBS was able to further lower its overhead costs previously locked up in endless upgrade cycles and the staffing of additional engineering resources for customization support not covered by SAP. The partnership with Rimini Street continues to fill critical gaps in ERP and technical knowledge.

“From a practitioner’s point of view, beyond the cost savings, the greatest benefit to my team is having access to Rimini Street’s global engineering talent, 24/7. When we put in a call, they respond quickly. Their team is highly experienced, proactive and able to resolve our toughest issues with ease,” said Eun Bi Park, SAP ERP, HR Module (Tax) manager at KBS.

“KBS is an essential part of everyday life for the citizens of Korea, beloved for nearly 100 years for its memorable, even life-changing programs,” said Hyungwook Kim, GVP and general manager of Rimini Street Korea. “We are proud to serve as a trusted IT partner in ushering the next generation of growth, entertainment and storytelling for the broadcasting icon.”
