Opened this August, the revitalised space sets a new benchmark in airport hospitality, offering an elevated experience for travellers departing from Cape Town. Discover the upgraded space in action – view the video.

This launch marks the third transformation in the rollout of the premium The Lounge concept, following successful redesigns at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport in Gqeberha.

A new standard in airport comfort and style

The new Cape Town airport lounge has undergone extensive renovations to meet the evolving needs of modern travellers. Designed for comfort and functionality, the space features increased capacity and a host of premium amenities tailored to both business and leisure travellers.

    Features include:

    • Copper-clad concierge desks for a warm, personalised welcome
    • A mixology show-bar with expert baristas and bartenders
    • Buffet-style dining with gourmet breakfasts, all-day meals, and crafted canapés
    • Private focus booths for work, entertainment, or calls
    • Universal charging ports and high-speed WiFi throughout

Crafting seamless journeys: Discovery and SAA’s travel philosophy

Professor John Lamola, SAA Group Chief Executive, said: “Our commitment to placing customers first begins the moment they arrive at the airport. This beautifully refurbished lounge is a sanctuary of comfort, delicious food, and exceptional service—an embodiment of the standards and aspirations of our flagship carrier.”

Dinesh Govender, CEO of Vitality, added:

“This new Cape Town Lounge is a perfect example of how we bring our core purpose to life for our members. Every detail – from the bespoke design to the curated food and beverage selection – has been carefully considered to deliver a seamless, rewarding journey that adds real value for our clients.”

How to access The Lounge at Cape Town International Airport

All Discovery Bank clients and Vitality members enjoy access to the Vitality Travel platform, which includes discounted flights and exclusive travel benefits. Discovery Bank Black and Purple cardholders receive additional perks, such as Discovery Priority Fast Track access at both OR Tambo and Cape Town International airports.

Access to The Lounge is managed via the Discovery Bank app, where members can generate a digital voucher for entry.
