    SABC to show Kaizer Chiefs vs Zamalek

    Kaizer Chiefs return to African action this weekend, and SABC will be bringing the action straight to fans’ screens.

    Amakhosi host Zamalek at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday at 15:00 in what promises to be a tense CAF Confederation Cup Group D showdown.

    According to the national broadcaster, the match will he live on SABC 2.

    The Soweto giants enter matchday two under pressure, having fallen 2–1 to Al Masry in Suez. Zamalek, meanwhile, kicked off their campaign with a 1–0 victory over Zesco United, arriving in Limpopo as the most decorated team in the group, winners of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2018/19 and again in 2023/24.

    Interestingly, both sides are having similar starts in their domestic leagues. Kaizer Chiefs have 22 points from 11 games, trailing league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by three points, while Zamalek also sit on 22 points after 12 matches, seven behind Egypt’s Ceramica Cleopatra, who have played a game more.

    KAIZER CHIEFS VS ZAMALEK HISTORY

    The two clubs have met once before, in the 1993 African Cup of Champions Clubs (now CAF Champions League) second round.

    First Leg: FNB Stadium, Johannesburg, 16 May 1993 — Kaizer Chiefs 2 (Radebe pen, September) Zamalek 1 (Mansour 72’)

    Second Leg: Osman Ahmed Osman Stadium, Cairo, 30 May 1993 — Zamalek 1 (Mansour 14’) Kaizer Chiefs 0

    The tie ended 2-2 on aggregate, with Zamalek progressing on away goals.
