2 GOP reps plan impeachment articles against judge who had in-chambers sex with top police officer

Two Republican U.S. representatives from Georgia plan to present impeachment articles against a Georgia federal judge, who was recently and privately reprimanded for having in-chambers sex with a police officer.
U.S. Rep. Clay Fuller and U.S. Rep. Andrew Clyde posted on X, formerly Twitter, plans to draft impeachment articles against U.S. District Judge Eleanor Ross of the Northern District of Georgia, who was a 2014 appointee of former President Barack Obama.
Last week, Clyde wrote, “Her egregious misconduct, severe lack of integrity and blatant impartiality warrant impeachment proceedings,” according to coverage on Law.com.
In February, the judicial council of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals at Atlanta found that Ross committed misconduct by having extramarital sexual intercourse with a high-ranking police officer during office hours and within earshot of staff.
The investigation also found that the judge initially lied about her actions. The judicial council order, upheld by the Judicial Conference’s Committee on Judicial Conduct and Disability, did not originally disclose the name of the judge.
It was later reported by Bloomberg Law that the anonymous judge was Ross, who was also disciplined for attending a 2024 primary victory party for a district attorney’s campaign.
