Three people have been killed and ten others injured after the minibus taxi they were traveling in overturned on the R40 between Mbombela and Barberton in Mpumalanga.
The victims, including the driver, died at the scene after the taxi reportedly lost control near Hilltop on Friday night.
Four passengers were critically injured, while six others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospitals in Mbombela.
Community Safety MEC Jackie Macie has appealed to motorists to exercise caution on the province’s roads.
Department spokesperson Moeti Mmusi said, “The South African Police Service and the Safety Engineering team from the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
“The MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Mr Jackie Macie, conveys his sincere condolences to the families who lost loved ones and wishes those injured a speedy recovery.”
