Four senior African National Congress (ANC) officials in the Western Cape have officially joined the Democratic Alliance (DA) after resigning from the ruling party.
The group includes the ANC’s Provincial Secretary Neville Delport, ward councillors Daniel Baadjies and Paul Strauss, as well as Regional Executive member Jason Donn.

Their move was formally announced during a media briefing in Cape Town, led by DA Federal Council Chairperson Helen Zille and the party’s Western Cape leader, Tertuis Simmers.
Political Realignment Gains Momentum in the Western Cape
Speaking on behalf of the group, Delport said the move represents just the beginning of a larger exodus from the ANC in the province.

“This is just the beginning of many ANC members in the province who will be crossing over to the DA,” he said.

The DA welcomed the new members in an official statement, describing the defections as a significant moment in the political landscape of the Western Cape.
“The ANC’s Western Cape Provincial Secretary has officially joined the DA alongside other ANC councillors! A major step in the realignment of politics,” the statement read.
DA Hails Move as Proof of Growing Support
The party emphasised that the new members recognise its governance record and commitment to improving lives in the province.
