This may deeply sadden a section of Kaizer Chiefs supporters.

THE FAILED MOVE TO KAIZER CHIEFS

Former Orlando Pirates striker Mhango left AmaZulu FC. He soon travelled to Naturena to sign for Amakhosi before signing for Swallows FC instead. “Yeah, it was that time I was at AmaZulu,” Mhango told iDiski Times. “I left Durban and flew to Jo’burg. On my way from OR Tambo, going to Naturena, things changed on the highway. I was close to Naturena to sign for the team and things just turned around. I was like wow!

“I was looking forward to that and I was excited because a player that inspired me at Chiefs was Bernard Parker. I remember the first time that I went for the national team Bernard Parker gave me a flag. I remember it was a friendly and we were playing in Durban, that time, I think in 2011 if not 2012. So since then, it became an inspiration for me to be at Chiefs.

“I began watching their games and all. Imagine I’m going to play for the team with the player that I’ve been supporting, and this player gave me this flag, exchanged flags for the national team. It was amazing, I was excited. Even the whole country, it was even on the news and everywhere. Family calling me, I was like I’m going, I’m leaving tomorrow.

“On the day, they turned me back when I was by the door at Naturena. Of course, I was sad because I wanted to work with them. I wanted to wear that kit. But I said never give up, you are never late.

“I mean you never know, maybe one day will be one day,” concluded the 32-year-old Malawian.
