    Monument and Glenwood played out a thrilling draw at the Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival on Thursday, while there were wins for Wynberg and Pretoria Boys’ in Joburg.

    At Kearsney, Monnas and the Green Machine both scored four tries in a 26-26 stalemate, with Monnas replacment flyhalf Jaydon Viljoen converting his own try with five minutes remaining to level the scores.

    Earlier in the day, EG Jansen triumphed 29-24 over Kearsney. The boys from Boksburg led 19-0 at half time and while the hosts fought back in the second half, they fell just short.

    At St John’s, winger Neo Matlaletsa scored a hat-trick in Pretoria Boys’ 43-29 win against Diamantveld, Nelspruit edged Welkom Gym 34-31 and SACS saw off St Davids 28-3.

    Twenty kilometres away at St Stithians, Wynberg beat England’s Hartpury College 19-10, before fellow Cape Town school Bishops slumped to a 38-12 defeat to Helpmekaar.

    The KES Easter Festival starts on Saturday.
