    The KwaZulu-Natal province is a vibrant mixture of history, culture and unbelievably impressive natural beauty.

    Fondly known to some as the Garden Province, KwaZulu-Natal is a paradise for nature lovers. It offers the opportunity to admire beautiful landscapes, rolling hills and lush greenery. On your visit, you can also enjoy some unforgettable wildlife experiences.

    iSimangaliso Wetland Park

    The iSimangaliso Wetland Park is one of KwaZulu-Natal’s most treasured natural wonders. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, and is home to an impressive variety of flora and fauna. With five major ecosystems, the Park boasts a wealth of biodiversity.

    The word ‘iSimangaliso’ means ‘miracle’ or ‘wonder’, and the area’s beauty and offering truly live up to its name. Prepare to immerse yourself in the refreshing beauty of grasslands, forests, wetlands, beaches and mangroves. There are also a number of activities to enjoy, including safaris where you can spot species such as hippos, zebras, elephants, crocodiles and rhinos. iSimangaliso is also great for birding and horse-riding.

    Oribi Gorge

    Located 120km south of Durban, the spectacular Oribi Gorge is a canyon worthy of a spot on your bucket list. It is home to unforgettable scenic views and more than 300 bird species. When visiting the area, you can access stunning views from multiple viewpoints including the popular overhanging Leopard Rock.

    A number of activities can be enjoyed, including hiking experiences at the Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve. If you are an adrenaline junkie, the world’s highest gorge swing also awaits.

    Durban Botanic Gardens

    Established in 1849, the Durban Botanic Gardens is a 15-hectare oasis of plant diversity. The attraction is Africa’s oldest surviving botanic garden, and it promotes biodiversity and environmentalism. You can enjoy refreshing scenic walks and guided tours as you learn more about the history of the Gardens, as well as the interesting plant life found at the attraction.

    uKhahlamba-Drankensberg Park

    The uKhahlamba-Drankensberg Park comprises a spectacular mountain range and offers a worthwhile experience for nature lovers. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000. It presents the opportunity to explore and experience a unique range of valleys, waterfalls, mountains and trails. The Park also accommodates hikers of all levels. Moreover, you can expect astounding natural beauty and views of the highest waterfall in Africa.
