Copenhagen is set to relaunch its eco-friendly travel initiative, CopenPay, offering visitors a chance to earn rewards for making greener travel choices. From 17 June to 17 August, the programme allows travellers to exchange their sustainable actions for entry to more than 100 cultural and local attractions.

The initiative follows the success of a pilot programme trialled in July 2024, as reported by Travel News. Now returning on a larger scale, CopenPay includes major sights like The National Museum, Kronborg Castle, The National Gallery of Denmark, Copenhill, and The Urban Garden, among others.

Visitors who choose trains over flights or bicycles over cars can earn perks such as free bike rentals, yoga sessions, guided tours, or discounted admission to top attractions. Those arriving in electric vehicles will benefit from reduced parking rates.

To promote deeper engagement with the city, the programme also rewards travellers who extend their stay. These guests may receive complimentary bike rentals, along with free food and drinks at participating accommodations.

“Rather than bringing more tourists to the city, the goal with CopenPay is to nudge our visitors and raise their awareness about travelling more sustainably – exploring Copenhagen more responsibly while being rewarded with unique experiences,” said Søren Tegen Pedersen, CEO of Wonderful Copenhagen.

CopenPay positions Copenhagen as a leader in sustainable urban tourism, blending environmental responsibility with cultural enrichment.
