Kaizer Chiefs bit by the Billiat curse in transfer move?

Kaizer Chiefs have uncharacteristically moved away from the prospect of signing free agent Percy Tau, and former signing Khama Billiat may be the reason why.

“The team feels that apparently, they believe they have learnt a lesson from the signing of Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly,” an inside source explained.

“They paid a lot of money, but the club believes those returns were not worthy of it. So that’s why they are looking at other forward players apart from Percy Tau. So, for now, he is not one of the targets. But in football, you never know what will happen in future. But not now.”

AmaKhosi were eager to sign the Bafana Bafana icon a few months ago but were unable to land him after it became clear he wanted to leave Egyptian giants Al Ahly. It seems they are counting their blessings as they turn their attention to rising and in-form stars.

    Nabi wants more talent

While Tau is no longer on their list, Kaizer Chiefs are still on the hunt for experienced stars, including Oswin Appollis and Feisal Salum, both of which are reportedly close to joining the Soweto giants.

Several players are expected to arrive during the offseason, otherwise they risk losing Nasreddine Nabi.

“I wouldn’t be honest if say that I’m going to stay if the club doesn’t allow me to get all the tools to succeed next season because they have promised, and myself, I have promised the fans that I want to build a successful team that will compete in every competition to win trophies,” he said.”

“That’s the condition for me to stay [at Chiefs] because I don’t feel that I want to go through what I went through this season.”

    Who should Kaizer Chiefs sign?
