Orlando Pirates have stormed into the transfer window with a flurry of high-profile signings, headlined by the acquisition of Sipho Mbule from Mamelodi Sundowns. The Buccaneers, eager to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025/2026 season, unveiled the former Sekhukhune United loanee on Tuesday, signalling the start of a major rebuild.

The club didn’t stop there. Pirates confirmed the arrivals of Tshepo Mashiloane, Masindi Nemtajela, Nkosikhona Ndaba, Yanela Mbuthuma, Tshepang Moremi, Sihle Nduli and Sinoxolo Kwayiba, showcasing their intent to compete on all fronts next season.

Pirates back new boss with transfers

These aggressive moves in the market follow hot on the heels of the club’s announcement of Abdeslam Ouaddou as the new head coach. The Moroccan tactician, who masterminded Marumo Gallants’ survival in the top flight last term, will now lead Pirates into a new era of structure and intensity.

He won’t be going it alone. Ouaddou is set to join the squad later this week alongside trusted technical staff Mandla Ncikazi, Rayaan Jacobs, Helmi Gueldich, and Tyron Damons.

“Structure, intensity, and consistency” have been the words linked with Ouaddou’s appointment. And the early transfer activity shows the hierarchy is backing their man to implement real change.

Marbella camp to kickstart continental ambitions

Pirates will head to Marbella, Spain, from 8 to 20 July for a high-performance pre-season camp. The European stint comes at a critical time, offering Ouaddou the chance to assess his new squad and fine-tune tactics ahead of a gruelling campaign.

The Soweto giants aim to challenge not only for domestic honours in the Betway Premiership. But also make a serious statement in the CAF Champions League.

    More signings on the horizon

The transfer window is far from closed. With the Pirates still actively engaged in the market, additional player movement looks imminent.

Orlando Pirates have made their intentions clear, they are building not just for the future, but to win now. And with a fresh batch of signings and a new man at the helm. The Sea Robbers have sounded a loud warning to their rivals across the continent.

Are the Orlando Pirates fans happy with signings?
