uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party’s national spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, has firmly denied explosive accusations made by the party’s former secretary-general, Floyd Shivambu. During a televised interview on eNCA, Shivambu alleged that Ndhlela was often under the influence of drugs and alcohol—claims that Ndhlela has swiftly and publicly addressed.
On Tuesday, 24 June 2025, Ndhlela posted a drug screening report to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, showing that no drugs were detected in his system. He paired the document with the hashtag #SayNoToDrugs, signalling both a personal rebuttal and a broader message against substance abuse.

Clean Test Results — But Not Without Controversy
The report, titled “SCREENING TEST for DRUG CLASSES,” indicates “not detected” for various substances. Despite the seemingly clear results, some social media users were quick to point out a standard disclaimer that notes: a “not detected” result does not definitively prove the complete absence of drugs.

Still, Ndhlela stood by the results, using the moment to call for sensitivity when discussing drug abuse. “Say NO to making light of drug abuse and YES to saving lives,” he wrote, making it clear that he views Shivambu’s comments as not only defamatory but also irresponsible.
Nhlamulo Ndhlela’s Legal Threats and Demand for Apology
In a further escalation, Ndhlela revealed that he has served Shivambu with a letter of demand, accusing him of defamation and demanding a public apology and a full retraction within 48 hours.

The ongoing spat between the two former allies adds a dramatic twist to tensions already bubbling within the MK Party’s ranks. Whether Shivambu will respond remains to be seen, but for now, Ndhlela is standing firm—armed with a drug test and the court of public opinion on his side.
