A delegation of prominent American tour agents has arrived in Uganda for a curated familiarisation trip aimed at showcasing the country’s rich tourism offerings and fostering high-value commercial partnerships.

The six-member all-women delegation touched down in Kampala on Friday, June 20, at the invitation of Uganda’s Ambassador to the United States, Robinah N. Kakonge.

Their visit began with a welcome dinner hosted at Latitude 0° Hotel in Kampala, where they interacted with leading players in Uganda’s tourism industry.

The trip is part of a strategic initiative facilitated by the Embassy of Uganda in Washington, D.C., under the Economic and Commercial Diplomacy (ECD) Fund — a government-backed effort to harness diplomatic networks in attracting opportunities in key sectors such as tourism, agriculture, mining, and science and innovation.

“This moment represents more than hospitality — it’s a bridge to economic and cultural partnerships that can reshape opportunities for Ugandans across several sectors,” said Ambassador Kakonge. “We are ready to showcase Uganda’s vibrancy, potential, and talent,” she added.

During their stay, the tour agents will visit iconic tourist attractions, attend cultural showcases, and participate in industry immersion experiences supported by Uganda’s private sector, innovators, and public officials.

These engagements aim to deepen their understanding of Uganda’s tourism landscape and create lasting commercial links with U.S. markets.

The Embassy says the familiarisation visit is a critical step in connecting Uganda’s compelling tourism value propositions with influential American networks.

The delegates also expressed interest in introducing Uganda’s tourism and investment opportunities to U.S. audiences, many of whom remain unaware of the country’s vast potential.

By leveraging its diplomatic reach and the ECD Fund, the Embassy aims to position Uganda as a destination of choice for responsible, inclusive travel and a hub for cultural exchange, innovation, and sustainable economic development.
