South African SAMA-nominated artist Rowlene has officially released her new EP, Moments After, now available across all major streaming platforms via ONErpm. The project marks a powerful return for the R&B and Afro-pop singer-songwriter, weaving raw emotion, introspective storytelling, and rich sonic textures into a six-track journey of healing and reinvention.

Building on the momentum of her singles Breakaway and Don’t Give Up on Me—which both earned chart placements on major stations across the country, Moments After is the full story Rowlene’s been waiting to tell. It’s a body of work that emerges from the aftermath of heartbreak, personal shifts, and the quiet yet transformative decision to reclaim joy and peace.

“This EP is really about what happens after the storm,” Rowlene shares. “It’s about reclaiming yourself—your joy, your peace, your freedom—after heartbreak or any kind of emotional shift. Every track is a different stage of that healing process, from reflection to release.”

With Moments After, Rowlene leans into a more grounded, evolved version of herself, sonically and personally. The record blends live instrumentation with soulful tones, alt-R&B elements, warm harmonies, and a new softness that mirrors her emotional growth.

“This is the most ‘me’ I’ve ever sounded,” she adds. “I’m not chasing expectation anymore. I’m more intentional and more aware of who I am—not just as an artist, but as a woman.”

Many of the lyrics stemmed from real-life moments—raw conversations, unexpected confrontations, and the quiet realisations that come when we’re forced to choose ourselves. One pivotal experience, she reveals, involved recognising how much of herself she was giving up in the name of keeping the peace. This awakening became the emotional anchor of the EP.

“I hope it feels like a safe space for anyone going through it,” says Rowlene. “Whether you’re in the thick of something or just coming out of it, I want this project to remind people that healing is messy but beautiful—and it’s okay to outgrow things that no longer serve you.”

Cape Town audiences will have a chance to experience this EP live with Rowlene’s upcoming release party taking place on Thursday, 12 June at North North Social Club. Tickets are available here.

With Moments After, Rowlene has not only delivered a compelling sonic experience but a deeply personal offering that shows just how far she’s come—and invites fans to join her in owning what comes next.
