    The delegation of the National Association of Democratic Lawyers and Black Lawyers Association donated to flood victims in East London.

    The National Association of Democratic Lawyers (NADEL) and the Black Lawyers Association (BLA) provided much-needed help to some displaced community members who were affected by the floods in the Eastern Cape. On 9 and 10 June 2025 some areas in the Eastern Cape were affected by floods due to the heavy rains in that province. Thousands of families were affected, some lost their homes, and others lost their loved ones. On 20 June 2025, the two organisations led by the two Secretary Generals, Zincedile Tiya of NADEL and Chris Mamathuntsha of the BLA, accompanied by some members of their respective National Executive Committee members, collaborated and visited the following areas: Northcrest Hall, Norwood, as well as Slovo community hall.

    The Secretary General of NADEL, Mr Tiya, pointed out that the two organisations decided to come together and assist in any way they could to help the families affected by the floods. He pointed out that, as legal practitioners who care about the community, they wanted to show the community members that they are supported.

    Items that were donated by NADEL and the BLA included –

    • school shoes and socks;
    • heaters;
    • food items; and
    • mattresses.

    On 21 June 2025, NADEL continued the donation drive to Butterworth. The organisation donated school bags for the children, sanitary towels, formula and nappies.
