Morris, Manning & Martin has said it is in merger talks with a BigLaw firm after losing more than one-third of its lawyers this year.

The latest group to leave Morris Manning consists of 22 real estate and corporate lawyers leaving for Seyfarth Shaw, report Law.com and Law360.

The group includes 11 partners, according to a June 30 press release from Seyfarth Shaw.

The lawyers making the move include three practice leaders: Matt Peurach, who was chair of Morris Manning’s corporate, tax and opportunity zones practices; Tom Gryboski, who led the law firm’s hospitality practice; and Edmund Emerson III, who chaired the firm’s employment and employee benefits practices.

Morris Manning has lost a total of about 60 lawyers this year, according to Law.com.

A potential merger offers the firm “growth prospects on the horizon,” which “are very exciting,” Simon Malko, managing partner at Morris Manning, told Law.com and Law360 in a statement. “We are in advanced discussions with a national Am Law 100 firm with outstanding lawyers; comprehensive full-service resources; a highly collegial culture; and a strong cultural, client and economic fit.”
