Merged law firm will be called McDermott Will & Schulte after partner vote

McDermott Will & Emery and Schulte Roth & Zabel will combine Aug. 1 as a result of a partner vote approving the merger last week.
The merged law firm will be called McDermott Will & Schulte, report Law360, Reuters, Law.com and Bloomberg Law.
The firms first announced plans to merge in May.
The combined firm will have more than 1,750 lawyers, more than 20 offices across the globe and more than $2.8 billion in likely revenue.
“We’re not just expanding our expertise,” said Ira Coleman, McDermott’s chairman, in a statement provided to the legal publications. “We’re redefining what it means to be a modern, elite law firm—deeply specialized, relentlessly client-focused and committed to a people-first culture.”
McDermott is known for its focus on health care, private equity, taxes and litigation, according to previous coverage. Schulte is known for its investment management, private equity and fund formation practices.
