Dubai is about to redefine the skyline once again. Towering at over 1,197 feet (365 metres), Ciel is nearing completion in the heart of Dubai Marina and is poised to become the tallest hotel on the planet when it opens later this year.

This architectural marvel will soar past the current record-holder—the nearby Gevora Hotel, which stands at 1,169 feet—to offer 82 floors of luxury, panoramic views, and gravity-defying leisure.

    Sky-high luxury with a view

Ciel will feature 1,004 rooms, including 147 suites, all designed with floor-to-ceiling glass to maximise 360-degree views over the Persian Gulf, Palm Jumeirah, and even the Burj Khalifa. Guests can expect a surreal sense of elevation, with key leisure areas reaching above 1,000 feet.

    Among the highlights are:

    • World’s highest infinity pool, perched 1,004 feet up on the 76th floor, part of the soon-to-be-iconic Tattu Sky Pool experience.
    • A sky-high restaurant at 1,158 feet.
    • A spectacular 12-storey atrium sky garden with vertically layered, naturally ventilated terraces—bringing greenery to the clouds.

Construction progress: Final touches in motion

According to recent updates from China Railway 18th Bureau Group—the project’s main contractor—the hotel is in its final stages. The lobby fit-out is already 65% complete, with guest room furniture 45% installed and the leisure deck about 40% finished.

Dining areas are progressing, too, with installations halfway there.

Designed by the minds behind Atlantis The Palm

The architectural firm NORR, known for its work on Atlantis The Palm, has designed the Ciel with both scale and spectacle in mind. The Tattu Dubai hospitality complex will span three floors of the hotel:

    • Tattu Restaurant on Level 74
    • Tattu Sky Pool on Level 76
    • Tattu Sky Lounge on Level 81

    Global skyscraper race heats up

The vertical competition doesn’t end in Dubai. In Toronto, Canada’s first supertall—One Bloor West—recently crossed the 300-meter mark. Designed by Foster + Partners, this building will become Canada’s tallest residential structure and second-tallest man-made structure after the CN Tower.

For reference, buildings that exceed 984 feet (300 metres) are classified as “supertalls” by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat—a threshold that both Ciel and One Bloor West confidently surpass.
