Jason Theron has won the Mixed Heyball Pool silver medal for Team SA at The World Games in Chengdu, China, after a closely-contested final where he fell just short behind the Chinese Zhang Taiyi with a score of 3-5.
The 42-year-old impressed throughout the tournament with a notable win over Tang Chunxiao of China, who went on to secure the bronze. Heyball pool is a newer variation of billiards which has been gaining population in China, however, the South African has shown his class in Chengdu, looking comfortable with the format, environment, and opponent in each match.
His silver takes Team SA’s medal tally to three, with sports climbing underway and powerlifting commencing on Friday.
