The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the Free State have vowed to shut down the medical practice of a Kroonstad doctor, following shocking revelations linked to his grandson.

The grandson is accused of shooting and killing a Black man before burying him in a shallow, unmarked grave on the family’s farm.

The party staged demonstrations outside the doctor’s practice, demanding accountability and swift justice.

Police confirmed that they discovered the decomposed body of an unidentified man last month on farmland along the road between Kroonstad and Welkom. A murder case, along with a charge of defeating the ends of justice, has since been opened.

During a tense confrontation, EFF Free State deputy chairperson Thomas Macingwane questioned the doctor, identified as Dr Koos Troskie, about his role in handling the body.

EFF: “So there are six people and then he shot at them and then he killed one of them. What happened to the body?”
Dr Koos Troskie: “What happened to the..”
EFF: “To the body of the dead man.”
Dr Koos Troskie: “The body of the dead man?”
    EFF: “Yes.”
Dr Koos Troskie: “Yes I know I did a wrong thing I should have called the police.”
EFF: “So you admit you buried the dead man.”
Dr Koos Troskie: “Yes if I didn’t bury him immediately, the jackals would have eaten him but I should [have] called the police.”
