The South African Brandy Foundation (SABF) has unveiled a reimagined Brandy Route, promising locals and tourists alike a unique way to explore the country’s rich brandy culture this summer.

The refreshed journey combines centuries-old distilleries with modern tasting lounges and bustling city cocktail bars, giving visitors a truly all-encompassing brandy experience.

BizCommunity reports that this latest version of the route introduces creative elements such as food pairings and hands-on mixology sessions, highlighting how versatile South African brandy can be. The initiative aims to position brandy not only as a heritage drink but also as a contemporary lifestyle choice.

Brandy has been part of South Africa’s story for over three centuries, with the first recorded distillation in Table Bay back in 1672. Since then, local craftsmanship has evolved into an internationally recognized, award-winning category.

Christelle Reade-Jahn, SABF director, explains that the Brandy Route offers more than just tastings, it’s an immersive dive into South African history and culture. Every stop, whether a rustic cellar in the winelands or a modern urban bar, tells its own tale of the country’s longstanding connection with brandy.

Through these enhancements, the SABF hopes to ensure the tradition of brandy-making continues to thrive, appealing to both heritage enthusiasts and modern adventurers.
