Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema addressed crowds outside the East London Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 30 September, as proceedings in his gun case entered their second day.

Malema is awaiting a verdict linked to a 2018 incident in which he allegedly discharged a firearm during the EFF’s fifth anniversary celebrations. Standing alongside him was party secretary-general Marshall Dlamini, who thanked supporters for their continued backing.

The Red Berets reaffirmed their solidarity with Malema, insisting the party would stand strong regardless of the outcome. Addressing members, Dlamini said the EFF was prepared for any decision.

Malema himself said he would withhold further comment until judgment is delivered. However, the party has labelled the charges against him “politically and racially motivated.”
