The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel & Spa has received one of the highest international distinctions in hospitality — a MICHELIN Key in The MICHELIN Guide 2025.

Often described as the hotel world’s equivalent of the MICHELIN Star, the MICHELIN Key celebrates more than 7,000 properties worldwide that stand out for their sense of place, service, and character.

This year marks the first time South African hotels have been recognised in the Guide’s hotel category, with just 27 properties across the country earning the honour. The Cellars-Hohenort now joins this select list of destinations offering an exceptional guest experience.

Set on nine acres of celebrated gardens with sweeping views of Table Mountain, the hotel blends historic charm with modern refinement. Its 51 individually designed rooms and suites, The Conservatory Restaurant, and peaceful on-site spa create an atmosphere of timeless elegance. MICHELIN inspectors praised the hotel for its “refined service, distinctive character, and remarkable setting” — qualities that have made it a Constantia favourite for generations.

“We are honoured to receive this recognition from The MICHELIN Guide,” said Tanya Johnson, General Manager of The Cellars-Hohenort. “This accolade is a tribute to our passionate team who are committed to delivering warm, personalised service in an environment that blends natural beauty, timeless elegance, and authentic South African charm.”

Part of The Liz McGrath Collection and a proud member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, The Cellars-Hohenort continues to set the benchmark for boutique hospitality in South Africa. The award reaffirms the property’s enduring appeal as a place where guests are invited to slow down, indulge, and experience the best of Cape Town’s vineyard country.

About The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel & Spa

Situated in the historic Constantia Valley, just 15 minutes from central Cape Town, The Cellars-Hohenort is a five-star property renowned for its lush gardens, elegant interiors, and exceptional dining.

The hotel features The Conservatory Restaurant, famous for seasonal menus crafted from local ingredients, and hosts the much-loved Classic High Teas that have become a local tradition. It is also a popular spot for weddings and celebrating other special occasions.

Guests can choose from a range of luxurious accommodations, including a two-bedroom villa and the exclusive three-bedroom Madiba Villa. Each room offers panoramic views of the gardens and Table Mountain, ensuring every stay feels both intimate and distinctly South African.
