Thambo also accused Kunene of involvement in irregular dealings related to the Rea Vaya bus tender.
Legal Demand Forces Retraction and Apology
Kunene’s legal team acted swiftly, issuing a formal demand on 11 October 2025, giving Thambo 48 hours to retract his statements. The demand described the posts as “defamatory, malicious, and unsubstantiated.”
In compliance, Thambo deleted the controversial posts and posted a brief public apology on X on 14 October 2025:
“I withdraw posts made on 8 and 10 October 2025 about Mr Kenny Kunene and apologise for any harm caused. Ends.”
