Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC have already put one hand on the 2025 Hollywoodbets Super League trophy, having built a statistical fortress that requires a sporting miracle for the challengers to breach, but a fierce contest between TS Galaxy Queens and JVW FC for the runner-up spot remains an intriguing spectacle for the fans.
As their 2025 campaign draws to a close, the champions have built an unassailable lead, but the true drama rests in the fierce, tight squeeze for the remaining podium positions, promising upsets and high-stakes encounters among the top contenders.
After the weekend’s results, and with 25 matches played, the champions have accumulated a formidable 65 points, to place them five points clear of their closest challengers, TS Galaxy Queens and JVW FC, both locked on 60 points.
But the extent of Sundowns’ dominance is seen not just in points, but by their statistical superiority, boasting a Goal Difference which stands at a staggering +66 after having netted 73 goals, while conceding a mere 7 across those 25 games.
A hallmark of championship quality is the ability to peak during the critical final weeks, and Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have achieved this with merciless efficiency, the log leaders currently boasting a perfect run in their eleven most recent HBSL matches.
This golden streak has been spectacular in terms of goal production and defensive resolve. Across the most recent five fixtures, Sundowns fired in an astonishing 25 goals, conceding only two. This dominant run includes a 7-0 demolition of Durban Ladies a week ago, alongside two convincing 5-nil victories against University of JHB FC and University of Pretoria.
Crucially, this streak also features a decisive 3-1 triumph over main challenger TS Galaxy Queens, on 5 October. This head-to-head victory functioned as a significant six-point swing and a powerful statement of intent, confirming that the champions’ momentum is peaking precisely at the ideal moment.

Are there any teams that can genuinely contest the defending champs’ top ranking this season? While Sundowns’ title defence appears statistically assured, the battle for the silver medal has emerged as the captivating focus.
Currently second on the log, TS Galaxy Queens and third-placed JVW FC are tied on points, with TS Galaxy holding the slight edge on the log standings due to a superior Goal Difference of +38, narrowly beating out JVW’s +35.
JVW FC enters the final stage with equally impressive momentum, boasting a perfect 5-0-0 run in their most recent league outings, scoring 17 goals while conceding just 3, but, having already played 27 matches, only three fixtures remain for a maximum possible total of 69 points.
Given Sundowns’ current 65 points, the champions need only four points from their final five games to surpass JVW’s maximum potential, regardless of JVW’s performance, and though JVW FC is mathematically still in the title race for first place, the entire focus of their 2025 campaign must surely now be towards securing the runner-up spot over the second-placed Queens.

TS Galaxy Queens have played 26 matches and, with 60 points, have four remaining fixtures in hand, theoretically allowing them a maximum of 72 points. With Sundowns capable of reaching 80 points, for TS Galaxy to overhaul this deficit, Sundowns must drop a minimum of nine points—meaning three losses—in their final five fixtures, and TS Galaxy must win all of theirs.
Against a team that has only lost twice all season, that must be considered unlikely to constitute a viable threat, since the champions need only win their next three fixtures (reaching 74 points) to place themselves beyond TS Galaxy’s reach.
The critical contest is therefore concentrated squarely on the fight for second place, determined by who finishes with superior points, or Goal Difference if level, between TS Galaxy and JVW FC, and the final weeks of this year’s HBSL season will see teams fighting for positioning, not just at the top, but for the crucial Top Four finishes.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC enjoys a favourable run-in that should allow them to clinch the title well before the final match day. All remaining home fixtures include mid-table encounters against University of JHB FC (12 November), Copper Belts FC (16th), and City Lads (22 November). Given the champions’ dominance and home advantage, dropped points in these fixtures are highly unlikely.
Their final published match on 7 December, against TS Galaxy Queens, is more likely to be a celebratory affair, rather than a title decider, in acknowledgement of the league’s top two teams.
By contrast, the Queens face a far more difficult final stretch. Their path includes a crucial midweek clash against the 4th-placed University of Fort Hare FC on 52 points on 12 November.

With Fort Hare desperately fighting to solidify their current Top Four status, this becomes a high-stakes, high-risk encounter for TS Galaxy, and one that could easily be instrumental in deciding the runner-up position.
Adding late-season intrigue is a potential Dark Horse contender, the University of the Western Cape, currently 8th with 39 points, with five remaining fixtures in hand. UWC boast one of the league’s strongest defences outside the top two, conceding just 13 goals with a robust +19 GD, but all their remaining ties are played away.
With the potential to haul in 15 points, pushing them to 54 points and allowing them to leapfrog Fort Hare to challenge for the fourth position, UWC faces both JVW FC and TS Galaxy Queens in their closing fixtures, holding the dangerous power to ruin the aspirations of the high-flying title contenders.
