This comes after Trump escalated tensions by withdrawing all US officials from attending the upcoming G20 Summit, reportedly questioning South Africa’s inclusion in the economic group.

“If we are to be punished for fighting for redress and social transformation in our country and advancing for equity in our country, as the African National Congress, for the reason why we were formed as an organisation, let it be,” said Mbalula.

The party emphasised that determining under whose authority these men were recruited should be treated as a matter of urgency.
