Among the three teams topping the CSA Women’s Pro50 Series early season standings with two wins and a loss apiece, Western Province and South Western Districts Women are in action this weekend, hosting defending champs Hollywoodbets Dolphins and North West Women respectively, in action early afternoon on Saturday, 15 November 2025.

The early narrative has been dominated not by the defending champions, the Lions Women, but by the impressive early form of South Western Districts Women, whose combination of potent run-scoring and clinical bowling has put them in the strongest competitive position, and this weekend offers them another chance to extend that competitive momentum into scoreboard pressure.

With all teams having completed three ties to date, Western Province have taken the early log lead by one point ahead of SWD and Dolphins on nine points each, the Oudtshoorn outfit edging ahead by a slim Net Run Rate margin.

With high-scoring totals and surprising upsets characterising the season’s start, this weekend’s two fixtures, both in the Western Cape, hold promise both to enhance the progress of the frontrunners and intensify the mid-table scramble.

Western Province Women vs. Hollywoodbets Dolphins

Saturday, November 15, 1:30 PM IST (Newlands, Cape Town)

This mid-table fixture at Newlands is a crucial contest between the explosive but inconsistent power of Western Province and the calculated resilience of the Hollywoodbets Dolphins.

Western Province’s campaign has been defined by spectacular individual brilliance, exemplified by batter Faye Tunnicliffe, who has recorded the series’ highest score this far, a blistering 138 runs in their dominant 131-run victory over the North West Women.

WP also boasts world-class all-round talent in Dané van Niekerk (in a four-way tie for Most 50’s) and leading wicket-taker Kayla Reyneke (the most economical of the four-way tie for Most Wickets, with 6 wickets to date), and the team is capable of setting daunting totals.

By contrast, the Dolphins Women have demonstrated mental toughness, securing tight, hard-fought victories, including a narrow win over the defending champions, the Lions, and a difficult three-wicket chase for success against North West.

Where the home team has shown fragility, including an early 75-run loss to SWD, the visiting KZN team thrives in pressure situations, and the outcome of this match is likely to be determined in the contest between the Dolphins’ bowling unit and the WP’s dangerous top order, placing the winners in a position to challenge the league leaders.

South Western Districts Women vs. North West Women

Saturday, November 15, 1:30 PM IST (Recreation Ground, Oudtshoorn)

Strategically speaking, this match is the key fixture of the weekend, particularly for the surging South Western Districts, the surprise package of the season showcasing a potent balance of offence and defence, and boasting the second-best run-scorer in Julia Hoal (156 runs) and Nicolien Janse van Rensburg (6 wickets).

SWD clinically chased down a target of 243 with only two wickets lost and 22 balls remaining for victory against the Dolphins in their most recent outing, adding a welcome positive NRR boost which can play a decisive role down the road.

Facing them are the struggling North West Women, who have recorded three losses and currently sit at the bottom of the competitive standings, and now away to SWD for their third away match of the season, at the Recreation Ground in an effort to kick-start their 2025/2026 points campaign.

Today’s fixtures will allow fans and supporters to gain great insight into their team’s early-season potential, with the results dictating whether the mid-table contenders can close the gap on the frontrunners, or if the current competitive hierarchy is resilient for the foreseeable future.
