African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has confirmed that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has formally closed the disputes surrounding the Limpopo Regional Elective Conferences.

This follows a series of recommendations made by an ANC task team assigned to probe the complaints.

The task team had been investigating claims of irregularities, alleged bogus delegates and organisational disputes in the Peter Mokaba, Vhembe and Norman Mashabane regions. The findings have helped guide the NEC’s final decision on the matter.

Mbalula said the party is now focused on ensuring that all Limpopo structures operate smoothly, with regional branches expected to continue their work without further disruption.

According to Mbalula, the NEC received and considered the full report compiled by the task team, acknowledging its role in helping heal divisions among party members. He described the report as “a useful guide in healing ruptures among ANC members and within structures.”

He explained that the NEC adopted the task team’s recommendations aimed at strengthening future conference procedures and improving organisational guidelines.

Disciplinary Action Looms for Those Who Undermined Processes

The NEC has also resolved that individuals found to have interfered with or undermined organisational processes will face disciplinary action. This measure, Mbalula noted, is intended to reinforce accountability within the party.

“As a result of conferences, the NEC adopted the recommendations of the testing to strengthen the conference processes and guidelines moving forward.

“The NEC further referred those who were involved in undermining organisational processes to be subjected to disciplinary action. So, the matter of Limpopo and the conference is closed and done with,” said Mbalula.
