The Uganda Embassy in Havana is participating in the 41st Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025), positioning Uganda as a growing tourism and investment destination at one of Cuba’s most important economic exhibitions.

The fair, running from 24 to 29 November at Expocuba in Rancho Boyeros, brings together public and private enterprises as well as diplomatic missions from across the world.

Officials say Uganda’s involvement is part of broader efforts to deepen bilateral trade relations, attract investors, and expand market opportunities for Ugandan products in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Embassy’s stand features a range of Ugandan agricultural products, traditional crafts, and promotional materials on tourism and investment.

Throughout the fair, Ugandan diplomats are engaging with trade representatives, exporters, and sector specialists to identify new collaboration areas in tourism, agriculture, manufacturing, and other growth sectors.

The Embassy is particularly keen on building pathways for Ugandan products to penetrate new markets.

FIHAV 2025 is unfolding against Cuba’s continued economic challenges, including the effects of the long-standing blockade.

Despite these pressures, the fair remains the country’s main platform for international economic engagement.

This year’s edition has placed strong emphasis on renewable energy under Cuba’s energy transition agenda, artificial intelligence, tourism development, and the promotion of national export products.

The event has attracted delegations and companies from countries such as Canada, China, Guyana, Indonesia, the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, and Russia, reaffirming its importance as a regional hub for international trade.

FIHAV, first held in 1983, has grown into one of the largest multi-sectoral trade fairs in Latin America and the Caribbean, offering countries like Uganda a strategic platform to widen their economic footprint.
