Bafana Bafana were drawn in Group A alongside co-hosts Mexico and Korea Republic for FIFA World Cup 2026 on Friday.
South Africa against Mexico will be the opening match of next year’s tournament. It will be a repeat of the opening match of World Cup 2010.
South Africa’s third group stage opponents are still to be decided, but will be the winner of the four-way battle between Denmark and North Macedonia, and Czech Republic and Ireland.
The global tournament will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico from 11 June to 19 July 2026.
