    Spier Wine Farm


    Why it is perfect for picnics

    Spier is one of Stellenbosch’s most loved farms for relaxed outdoor dining. Guests can choose shady spots under ancient oak trees or settle on the lawns near the dam. The atmosphere is laid-back and family-friendly.

    What comes in the basket

    Expect a mix of cheeses, charcuterie, fresh bread, salads, fruit and something sweet. Everything is made with seasonal, local produce. Spier also provides blankets, glassware and cutlery, so you do not need to bring anything along.

    Cape Point Vineyards

    Why it is perfect for picnics

    With Noordhoek’s mountains and lake as a backdrop, Cape Point Vineyards has one of the most impressive picnic settings in the Cape. The long lawns make it ideal for memorable gatherings.

    Their baskets are generous and beautifully curated, featuring premium charcuterie like Mastro Dario coppa, beef pastrami, Toscano salami and honey and herb smoked ham. The cheese selection includes Chevin goat cheese, young cumin boerenkaas, Stonehouse semi-soft Cajun and Kleinrivier oak-smoked Stanford with onion marmalade. You also get seasonal fruit, melba toast, mini ciabatta, mixed seed lavash, marinated citrus olives, labneh and red pepper muhammara.

    Mooiplaas Wine Estate

    This quiet Bottelary Hills estate is ideal for visitors who want a peaceful vineyard escape. Mooiplaas has spacious lawns surrounded by fynbos and mountain scenery.

    A generous gourmet hamper for two includes a fresh baguette, cheeses, dips, salads, wraps or pitas, preserves, a dessert and water. Most baskets also include a bottle of Mooiplaas wine. Vegan and gluten-free options can be arranged.

    Warwick Wine Estate

    Warwick combines lush vineyards with relaxed lawns by the dam or more private picnic pods. The estate caters to those who want a gourmet experience in a scenic and versatile setting.

    Baskets include locally sourced charcuterie, cheeses, fresh breads, seasonal salads and sweet treats. Vegetarian or children’s options are also available on request. Blankets and cushions are provided in many of the picnic areas, making it easy to enjoy a luxurious outdoor lunch.

    Boschendal Wine Estate

    Why it is perfect for picnics

    Boschendal is famous for its sprawling gardens, shady trees and relaxed farm atmosphere. The Werf Garden and Rhone areas both offer beautiful outdoor settings.

    Baskets usually include artisanal bread, cheeses, seasonal salads, cold meats, pâtés and sweet treats. Portions are generous, and the quality is consistently high. Booking is required.
