    The year 2026 is gearing up to be one of the most electric years in global sport.

    With expanded tournaments and new competitions fans can expect non-stop action from January to December.

    Here’s a comprehensive look at the sporting events set to define 2026:

    🏉 Six Nations Championship – 5 February to 14 March

    Europe’s premier annual rugby contest returns as the traditional giants – England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales – battle for continental supremacy.

    ❄️ Winter Olympics & Paralympics – 6 to 22 February

    Home to iconic winter venues, Milan and Cortina in Italy will host the world’s top athletes in skiing, snowboarding, ice skating and more, followed by the Paralympic Winter Games.

    🏏 ICC Men‘s T20 World Cup – 7 February to 8 March

    Cricket’s most explosive format returns to the subcontinent as 20 nations compete for the T20 crown.

    Massive crowds and high-intensity matches are guaranteed as India and Sri Lanka play hosts.

    ⚽ FIFA World Cup – 11 June to 19 July

    Hosted across the USA, Canada and Mexico, the first-ever 48-team World Cup will deliver a record-breaking festival of football.

    🌐 Commonwealth Games – 23 July to 2 August

    The 2026 Commonwealth Games that will be held in Glasgow in Scotland.

    This reimagined event will feature just 10 sports (including six Paralympic sports) across four key venues, bringing together 3 000 athletes from 74 nations for an 11-day celebration of sport, culture, and business, aiming to deliver lasting benefits beyond the competition.  

    🌍 Nations Championship – Global Launch in 2026

    World Rugby’s new flagship biennial international competition debuts, featuring:

    • Six Nations teams
    • SANZAAR nations (South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Argentina)

    It aims to bring structure, intensity and global balance to international rugby outside World Cup years.

    🏎️ Formula One

    2026 marks a revolutionary year in Formula One, with:

    • New engine regulations centred on sustainability and increased electrical power
    • Audi joining F1 as a works team, reshaping the competitive landscape
    • Expected changes to aerodynamics to promote closer racing
