Santa Claus came in the form of a drone over a South Carolina prison yard and dropped off a special gift for some inmates this week.
But alas, a guard intercepted the care package that included steak, crab legs and marijuana, according to the Associated Press. There was even some Old Bay seasoning and a couple of cartons of cigarettes.
The drone dropped the package into the Lee Correctional Institution prison in Bishopville, South Carolina, the South Carolina Department of Corrections said on the social platform X, formerly Twitter, with the hashtag #ContrabandChristmas, according to the AP.
The drone was seized Sunday, and prison officials are investigating.
“I’m guessing the inmates who were expecting the package are crabby,” prisons spokeswoman Chrysti Shain said, according to the AP.
