Airlink has temporarily suspended all flights to and from Hoedspruit in Limpopo after severe flooding left several access roads impassable and restricted movement to the airport.

The disruption affects travellers heading to nearby communities, as well as Kruger National Park and surrounding private lodges and reserves.

The suspension applies to Airlink’s scheduled services between Hoedspruit and both Cape Town and Johannesburg. These routes are widely used by leisure travellers and safari-goers, particularly during peak travel periods in the Lowveld.

According to the airline, operations will only resume once the relevant authorities confirm that conditions are safe and the airport can reopen. Airlink has been working closely with local stakeholders, including SANParks and private lodge operators, to support passengers who are currently stranded in the area.

Travellers booked to fly to or from Hoedspruit for the remainder of the week are being contacted directly by the airline. Customers are advised to monitor Airlink’s official communication channels for updates as the situation evolves.

“We apologise for the inconvenience this is causing our customers,” said Airlink CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht. He added that teams are coordinating with partners on the ground to minimise disruption and expedite the resumption of flights as soon as conditions allow.

Passengers requiring assistance with booking changes can contact Airlink’s reservations office or their travel agents for further support.
