Broadcasting icon Carol Tshabalala is embarking on a new venture, partnering with promoter Terry-Anne Hart of Fighters Club Promotions to elevate South African boxing. With over 20 years in the industry, Tshabalala aims to leverage her global influence to champion equality both inside and outside the ring.

“I do have my feet firmly planted in the boxing industry as a ring announcer and have been doing that for years,” says Tshabalala.

“I am extremely passionate about the sport, as I am about making sure that women in sport are not only represented but that they are able to have equal, financially viable opportunities in their chosen fields.”

International Sports Broadcasting Icon, Carol Tshabalala

“This is what motivated me to agree to work with Terry as an ambassador for Fighters Club. I believe in her vision and was excited to help push the agenda to uplift women in this sport whilst also giving opportunities to our male boxers.”

Tshabalala believes the partnership will highlight the “incredible women behind the scenes” as much as the athletes. For Hart, the alignment was instant after a mutual contact introduced them.

International broadcaster Tshabalala will leverage her 20-year career to empower women and drive strategic impact within the SA boxing industry.

“Our visions honestly just clicked; it felt like a house on fire,” Hart explains. “Today, Carol is our very first ambassador for Fighters Club, and we are incredibly honoured to have her on this journey with us.”

“For me, the biggest thing I want to bring to boxing is equality: On stage, in pay, and in opportunity.”

South African Boxing Promoter, Terry-Anne Hart

As a specialist boxing promotor, Hart is determined to challenge the male-dominated status quo. “These athletes and this industry deserve far more attention, recognition, and national buy-in than they currently receive.”

Tshabalala, affectionately known as the First Lady of Sport, views her role as a strategic storyteller. “What we are going for here is impact, and it starts with joining forces and pushing a common agenda to use sports to uplift and empower women, ensuring they have the platform to achieve greatness,” she notes.

Hart adds that Tshabalala’s deep industry knowledge is an invaluable asset: “Beyond her profile and credibility, Carol brings insight, guidance, and strategic support that you simply cannot teach… Her advice is honestly instrumental in shaping our strategy.”

Following a successful event at Silver Lakes, Fighters Club is preparing for a February tournament that puts women at the forefront.

“We have four female bouts in this upcoming tournament, which means equal opportunities for female and male fighters,” says Hart. “On top of that, our main event, our headline bout, is a female fight… We’re so excited to see Smash step into the ring and do what she does best, and we’re equally excited to give Sibulele Soboois a platform to showcase her talent.”

Hart is transforming South African boxing by staging inclusive tournaments that provide female athletes a professional national platform.

Looking ahead, Hart plans to take the promotion nationwide. “Boxing does not have to be confined to Gauteng; it can and should be a travelling show,” she asserts. “We want to build Fighters Club not just as a promotion, but as a movement that represents South African boxing on a global stage.”
