Philadelphia-based law firm Blank Rome is facing a lawsuit from a former associate who said she was sexually assaulted in 2024 by a colleague.
The assault allegedly happened in a bedroom at a Blank Rome partner’s house following a graduation party.
The former associate, a woman who filed the suit anonymously, was found partially clothed on the floor, while the alleged perpetrator, a male associate, “was laying fully clothed on the floor near her with an erection.” Police responded, and the woman went to a hospital, according to the suit.
The former associate said in the suit Blank Rome knew of the alleged perpetrator’s “erratic and concerning” behaviors leading up to the alleged sexual assault but continued to employ him. The case was filed Friday in federal court in Pittsburgh, according to a story by Legal Newsline.
After the alleged assault, the woman was given three days off work, while the alleged perpetrator was “permitted to return to work as usual and without any consequences for his actions or the allegations,” according to the suit.
The female associate was told to stick to working remotely, the suit said, and she resigned March 21, 2025, according to Legal Newsline.
