One of the top legal artificial intelligence players is moving to the Windy City.

Harvey AI, which designs AI tools for law firms and in-house legal teams, announced Thursday that it will open a new office in Chicago to be closer to its clients. The office is set to open in July.

“No single industry represents more than 13% of Chicago’s GDP, and its legal market reflects that diversity,” said John Haddock, the chief business officer at Harvey, in an April 30 news release. “Being in Chicago allows us to work more closely with the legal teams at the heart of this global business hub.”

The new office will build on Harvey’s increasing presence in Chicago, where the company works with firms DLA Piper; Dentons US; Hinshaw & Culbertson; Mayer Brown; Winston & Strawn; Croke Fairchild Duarte & Beres; Gould Ratner; and Riley Safer Holmes & Cancila, according to the press release.

Harvey also works with in-house legal teams at Chicago-based Avant, CCC Intelligent Solutions and DRW and partners with iManage, a document and email management software provider with headquarters in Chicago.

Harvey has already made other investments in Chicago. In fall 2025, the company announced that it would collaborate with the University of Chicago Law School as part of its law school alliance program.

And in March, Harvey announced a multiyear partnership with the Chicago Cubs, which named the company its official legal AI platform.
