What to know about the UAE-wide initiative inviting residents to sign a pledge

A new UAE-wide initiative is inviting citizens and residents to take part in a “Pledge & Commitment” campaign launched in honour of President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The initiative was launched by Sandooq Al Watan, a non-profit organisation under Erth Zayed Philanthropies, and is being shared as part of its wider community outreach efforts. According to Sandooq Al Watan’s Instagram, the campaign honours the UAE President and encourages public participation through a shared message of unity and loyalty.

So, what does the pledge state?

The pledge highlights the loyalty and allegiance of UAE citizens and residents, recognising values of unity, dignity and national pride. It describes President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as a leader who embodies the country’s principles of security, strength and progress and reflects on his role in guiding the nation forward.

It also expresses a commitment to the UAE’s continued prosperity under his leadership, with a focus on peace, harmony and passing national values on to future generations.

In part, the pledge states: “He embodies our country’s honour and dignity. He is a leader who provides us with security and safety. He is a statesman who makes sound decisions with resolve and courage…”

It continues with a commitment ‘before God and the nation’ to remain loyal to the UAE and uphold its values, adding that under his leadership, the country will continue to achieve progress, safety and unity.

The pledge is open to all UAE citizens and residents who wish to take part.

It is available in English, Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Tagalog, Chinese, Farsi, Malayalam and other languages.

    Is it free?

Yes, signing the pledge is completely free.

    Acts of solidarity

The UAE public has shown strong solidarity and support for the country since February 28, 2026.

On April 9, in another act of solidarity, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued a post on his official social media account on X asking all residents to raise the UAE flag.

On the post, Sheikh Mohammed stated, “The United Arab Emirates entered the recent crisis united and emerged from it even more united, cohesive, and loyal. Citizens and residents, young and old, military and civilians, and government and economic sectors – all united under the banner of the state, its flag, and the symbol of its unity.”

The ruler of Dubai added, “The flag of the UAE is a symbol of strength and pride. We call upon the sons of the UAE and its residents on its blessed land to raise it above homes, institutions, and buildings.”

He added that he is, “Proud of our country. Proud of our country’s president. Proud of our armed forces. Proud of the strength of our economy. Proud of our teamwork. Proud of all our citizens and residents on our land. Proud of our flag.”

He stressed that we should ‘raise the flag high above every home and building as a sign of our love and a symbol of our loyalty to our country’s president and the banner of our unity and solidarity.”

Sheikh Mohammed ended the post, “May God protect the UAE and its people, and may He perpetuate its banner in glory and honour.”
