Bamenda – A heartbreaking incident unfolded on December 23, 2024, at the Fon’s Palace in Baligham, Santa Local Government Area. Gah Frankline, a 35-year-old man reportedly linked to separatist activities, visited the Fon’s palace—a decision that would seal his tragic fate.
An informant told ABS News that upon Frankline’s arrival, the Fon detained him and swiftly summoned the Cameroon military. The military forces arrived, subjected him to brutal treatment, and subsequently arrested him. Frankline was later transported to Awing, where he was summarily executed. His lifeless body was unceremoniously discarded in the area, marking a chilling end to the day’s events.
But that wasn’t all of it. The aftermath for the family was equally harrowing. Gah Christopher, the victim’s father and a schoolteacher, attempted to retrieve his son’s remains for burial. Instead, he was confronted with an outrageous demand: the military charged him for the bullets used to kill his son.
Adding to the family’s plight, the Fon of Baligham imposed harsh decrees. He banned all community members from visiting Mr. Christopher and categorically prohibited the burial of Frankline’s body in the village. The corpse remains in limbo, a stark symbol of the ordeal faced by the family.
This tragic episode is demonstrative of the grim realities of the ongoing conflict and raises pressing questions about justice, humanity, and community values in times of strife.
