Steenberg Farm in Cape Town’s Constantia Valley is revolutionizing the wine harvest experience with South Africa’s first augmented reality (AR) vineyard tour. This innovative initiative allows guests to immerse themselves in the magic of yield season without physically handling a single grape.

Traditionally, harvesting premium varietals such as Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc is restricted to farm workers. However, Steenberg’s new Immersive Harvest Experience grants visitors exclusive access through their smartphones. By scanning QR codes placed along a vineyard trail, guests can unlock AR content featuring insights from winemaker Elunda Basson and viticulturist Vlok Hanekom. They can watch footage of pickers at work and tractors transporting fresh harvests through their camera lens.

‘This is a first for South Africa,’ says Steenberg Farm Marketing Manager Jestine Enslin. ‘It’s an exciting opportunity for wine lovers, tech enthusiasts, and anyone curious about our brand.’

The experience is part of a luxury package priced from R 9 190 per couple, including a hotel stay, wine tasting, and dining at the estate.

Available from 1-31 March 2025, bookings can be made via 021 713 2222 or [email protected].
