The director of Equatorial Guinea’s National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), Baltasar Ebang Engonga, has allegedly been involved in illicit sex activities spanning several years. Evidence indicates he recorded over 300 explicit sex videos involving various women, including highly connected individuals such as his brother’s wife, a cousin, and even the sister of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema
Engonga’s behavior was exposed after an investigation led to the discovery of the sex videos on his office computer. The scandal surfaced early November 2024, although the precise timeline of these recordings has not been fully disclosed. The exposure of this content, widely shared across social media, has shocked the country and drawn intense scrutiny on his conduct.
It should be recalled that Engonga has been linked to so many other allegations, not only for inappropriate sexual misconduct but also for financial improprieties amounting to over 1.2 billion CFA francs in misappropriated funds. Following these revelations, he was placed under preventive detention, and several of his assets have been frozen pending further investigation
Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue issued a statement condemning the scandal, describing it as a severe breach of ethics and public trust. He emphasized a zero-tolerance policy on personal relations within government offices and reinforced disciplinary measures for similar infractions
Public reactions have been mixed, with some victims remaining silent, potentially due to social pressure and fear of further exposure. Others have reportedly begun voicing concerns, though specific statements from individuals involved are sparse at this moment.
