The Afrika Mayibuye Movement, led by Floyd Shivambu, has dismissed its first deputy president, Nolubabalo Mcinga, following allegations of political misconduct.
In a statement released on Friday morning, the party confirmed that Mcinga’s removal was partly due to her unauthorised meeting with uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party president Jacob Zuma.

Despite her dismissal from the leadership position, the party noted that she remains a member of the organisation.
Mcinga’s removal follows reports of growing internal tension between her and Shivambu, once considered close political allies. The pair previously served together in the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) before leaving simultaneously to join the MK Party and later co-founding the Afrika Mayibuye Movement.
Internal Strife and Accusations of Misconduct
In recent weeks, Mcinga had taken to social media, alleging that a “fake plot” was being orchestrated to remove her from the party. Her public statements sparked speculation about divisions within the movement’s top ranks.
The Afrika Mayibuye Movement’s statement further accused Mcinga of attempting to persuade members to establish a breakaway political formation and of inflating invoices for party-related activities.
Disciplinary Action Underway
According to the party, a formal disciplinary process has been launched against Mcinga to address the alleged misconduct. “The party said it has instituted a disciplinary process for Mcinga,” the statement concluded.
As the newly formed organisation faces its first major internal dispute, questions remain about how Shivambu’s leadership will navigate the turbulence within the Afrika Mayibuye Movement.
