Airbus, Kasi healthcare partner to boost Nigeria’s air ambulance services

Airbus Helicopters and Kasi Healthcare have signed an agreement to procure two Airbus H135 helicopters to strengthen emergency medical services inNigeria

The helicopters will support operations across key sectors, including oil and gas, public safety, maritime and other critical areas of the economy

Announced during the 3rd Nigeria Airlift 2026 Forum, the agreement marks a significant step towards advancing emergency medical aader in air medical services

Under the deal, Kasi Healthcare becomes the first organisation in Nigeria to acquire the HEMS-configured Airbus H135 helicopter, a purpose-built aircraft designed for emergency medical response, patient transfers, critical care missions and other life-saving aeromedical operations

The partnership is expected to improve access to emergency healthcare and support the country’s broader healthcare transformation agenda by enhancing medical evacuation capabilities

Beyond the aircraft acquisition, Airbus Helicopters will provide comprehensive technical support to develop local capacity. This includes training for Health Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) flight crews, pilot development programmes, aircraft engineer training and technical skills enhancement

The agreement also covers maintenance support infrastructure and operational assistance to ensure the helicopters are operated in line with international safety and reliability standards

The H135 is the undisputed leader in the HEMS market, known for its high safety standards, compact footprint, and low sound levels. Equipped with the Helionix digital avionics suite and a 4-axis autopilot, it offers an ideal platform for primary and secondary medical missions, with a spacious, flexible cabin layout for medical crews and their equipment
