Sara Baker, an Alabama lawyer accused of trying to kill her husband with fentanyl, was recently indicted on charges including conspiracy to commit murder, domestic violence and unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.
Citing court documents, WBRC News reports that Baker allegedly tried to kill her husband three times in September 2025. Police arrested her in November. Robin Wolfe, Baker’s lawyer, did not immediately respond to an ABA Journal interview request.
Baker had been caring for her husband, James Doyle Baker, after he had a stroke. The couple has been married for about 30 years, Law & Crime reported. She used to work for the district attorney’s office and was in private practice before being suspended by the Alabama Bar in December, WBRC News reported.
Baker represented a witness listed in her criminal complaint, on charges the woman tried to destroy evidence by ingesting fentanyl and possessed burglary tools, WBRC News reports.
